A US manufacturer that is held in high regard even amongst other high quality audio cable manufacturers. Famous for their development of a multi-stranded conductor that has diameter changes in the Golden Section increments to minimise resonance effects due to the transmission of signals. Pure copper is used throughout and the insulators are PTFE (Teflon). The tonal balance is neutral to warm with good transparency and holography. These cables never contribute to brightness making the audio system comfortable to listen to over long sessions. This Japanese company manufacturers the best connectors and accessories for cables and electronics we know. They are largely made from their pure Alpha-OCC copper which is then plated with either Gold or Rhodium. Their plugs and connectors are capable of taking large conductors with ease and without strain to the wires. This results in a very pure transmission of the audio signal or, in case of power cords, the AC current. Their contribution to the sound of the cable cannot be overstated with a very audible sonic upgrade.

Their interconnect cables, speaker cables and power cords are manufactured to the highest level with no compromise that might affect the purity of the transmission. Thier sound is largely without bias in any part of the audio spectrum and a level of transparency that is rare even amongst the finest audio cables available. Big soundstages are generated, both deep and wide and fine detail resolved easily. Refined, elegant and very pure sound.

A large improvement in sound can be achieved by changing the UK plug on the end of any quality mains cord. The effect is effect is additive if the IEC connector is also changed. This is easy to do and produces an immediate, and cost effective, upgrade in sound.

We are a strong believer that the fuse in any UK 13 amp plug seriously downgrades the sound quality of the component the power cord is connected to. Furutech do have an audiophile grade fuse which can reduce this detrimental effect to a reasonable extent but it is quite expensive. Far better results can be achieved by changing to Schuko European plugs that do not have fuses in them at all. This route would necessitate changing wall sockets (difficult) or using one of their mains distribution blocks (easy) – see below.

Distribution Blocks

The mains distribution blocks from Furutech have a large effect on the sound and used with their power cords give a result far in excess of any mains filtering, conditioning or re-generating that we have heard. All without any compression to the sound – in fact quite the opposite is achieved. Once again, a big step up in the level of transparency, dynamics and purity of your system’s sound. Unfortunately they are only available with Schuko European sockets. However, by using the appropriate Schuko connector on the ends of the required power cords, the quality of sound improves further mostly due to the fact the fuse in the UK plug is eliminated. The distribution blocks require a power cord to feed them and this is connected to the wall socket with a UK 13 amp plug – preferably a Furutech one. We have many customers who have gone this route and the feedback has been nothing short of eulogies.

This US manufacturer is the leading brand of networked cables. With a large range of cables at various price points, going up to the legendary Oracle series, there is a cable for all systems. The network technology with multiple pole points extends the frequency response of the cables and makes them more linear. The more pole points, the more linear the cable becomes. Bass is more extended in frequency without exageration and the mid-band and high frequencies becomes more transparent. They are one of the most transparent and holographic cables we have heard, allowing more detail to be revealed at any frequency. Imaging is far better and more focussed than most competitive brands. The extended bandwidth is especially revealing when used with wide and ultra-wide band width amplification.

The construction is based on multi-stranded, very pure copper and silver. Teflon (PTFE) is used as insulation in even the lowest cost grades. The networks are completely passive in design and do not interrupt the signal path of the cable. The interconnects, from the Shotgun MA grade and above, have selectable impedance switching; when selected for the input impedance required by the electronics, the contribution to tonal and spatial correctness is immense.

We are the only UK dealer to offer the Oracle MA speaker cables. We also have the new MA-X interconnect cable which has not only the variable impedance switching but the level of articulation can also be adjusted vbia a seperate switch. After listening under very controlled circumstances we have concluded that these are the best cables by far that we have heard. Siltech is a major worldwide cable manufacturer based in Holland producing a wide range of cables based on a mixture of copper, silver and gold. The more expensive cables have a greater proportion of gold and silver. A highly transparent cable with a full bodied sound. When combined with the right components, they contribute to deep soundstages. We have now received our demonstration samples of the NEW Classic Anniversary range of cables. The new Octopus Signature Eight multi-way (pictured bottom) is a superb product. Not only does it contribute to good cable management but it produces a major upgrade on the quality of the sound. The internal cabling being all G6 grade as used in the Signature cables, but most importantly the star arrangement of not only the earth but also the live and neutral wiring. There are no filters, conditioning circuits or ferrite rings anywhere in this product. The entire unit is constructed from non-magnetic materials. Being capable of transmitting high current, the input IEC plug is of the 16amp flat pin type and therefore requires the use of a power cord terminated with the appropriate connector.  We would recommend the use of at least the Siltech Ruby Hill power cord or one of similar quality. Even though it is compact in design, it allows for eight outlets and these can be selected as UK, Schuko or US sockets, or a combination of any of these. The Spectral cables are made for them by MIT Cables, see the description of their qualities above under MIT section. They are made to cope with the exacting requirements that Spectral electronics can produce namely the ultra-wide bandwidth, a high level of ultra-linearity and high current delivery. They have the correct low impedance and capacitance specified by Spectral engineered into them. These cables offer exceptional transparency and a very correct tonal balance. Customers with high quality electronics other than Spectral which have low input impedance requirements have very successfully used these cables with superb results. Feedback from many on the benefits to their sound, apart from that cited above, has been to the improved rhythmic capabilities of their systems.  
There are only two grades available; the affordable Foundation series and the Reference grade.
